Football

Football, or in everyday language football by apocope, or soccer in North American French, and more rarely ball at the foot, is a team sport that is played with a spherical ball between two teams of eleven players. These teams play against each other, lengthwise, on a rectangular pitch equipped with two goals installed in the middle of each of the short sides of the rectangle. The objective of each side is to put the ball in the opponent's goal a greater number of times than the other team's, without the players using their arms or hands, with the exception of goalkeepers: the foot is therefore the part of the body mainly used to cause the ball to move on the field.
