Physical description
Phryge, the mascot of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, is inspired by the Phrygian cap worn by the French revolutionaries in 1789. The Phrygian cap is therefore reproduced here with the eyes of the Olympic mascot. It is the "classic" Phrygia of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which is visible with the help of the cockade at eye level, which is located on the right eye for the Olympic mascot and left for the Paralympic mascot.
Notes
The mascot of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, representing a Phrygian cap, is a reference to the French Revolution of 1789. This type of cap symbolizes republican values (Liberty, Equality and Fraternity). Very present in the popular imagination, he can be seen in the town halls where he does Marianne's hair or on postage stamps, taking up the eyes of Phrygia.
