Physical description
The design of the Torch is perfectly symmetrical, both horizontally and vertically in order to embody "equality". Water, which occupies a special place during the Paris 2024 Games, inspired the lower part with the wave, relief and vibration effects present on the Torch that reproduce the waves, the chop, and the movements of the water as well as the reflections of light on its surface. Since the Olympic and Paralympic Games have always been a symbol of peace, the Torch, with its curves and curves, is imbued with softness. Pure in form, almost essential, the design of the Torch conveys a message of generosity and fraternity. The torch case, on the other hand, is circular. It is made from a cardboard material. On it, there are gold finishes with the inscription "Paris 2024", followed by the 5 Olympic rings, as well as the date of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Notes
The Torch of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games is distinguished first and foremost by its colour, which is both unique and luminous. To reflect the next Games, Mathieu Lehanneur was also inspired by three Paris 2024 markers: Equality, Water, and Appeasement. It was manufactured by ArcelorMittal, the world leader in steel and Official Partner of the Games. In total, 2,000 torches were produced by ArcelorMittal, five times less than in previous editions of the Games.
