Estanguet Tony
Canoeing KayakingTony Estanguet (born May 6, 1978 in Pau) is a French athlete and sports executive specializing in canoe single slalom (C1) whose career at the highest international level spanned from 2000 to 2012. Member of the International Olympic Committee as an elected member of the Athletes' Commission, from 2013 to 2021. A few days before the start of the Games, on July 17, 2024, he bathed in the Seine with the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, and the prefect of the Île-de-France region, Marc Guillaume. On August 11, 2024, at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics, he gave a speech, in which he said: "A momentum is born. The day after the ceremony, with the first medals, a wave was raised. He also adds: "We saw ourselves as a people of indomitable complainers, but we woke up in a country of unbridled fans who don't want to stop singing," referring to the support and fervour of the French people. On Friday, December 20, 2024, Tony Estanguet announced via a post on social networks that he is ending his mission as president of the Paris 2024 OCOG.
