Desbonnet Edmond

Born on June 26, died on June 28. He is "the father of Physical Culture". He developed a taste for strength and health, thanks to his method. He opened his first theater in Lille in 1885. He contributed to the establishment and recognition of weightlifting. Desbonnet created more than 300 medical gymnastics centres in France and Europe, run by his own Paris-trained students. More than 200 branches of his method are open around the world. Father of preventive medicine through the gymnastics of the organs, he received honorary degrees, university titles of Doctor "Honoris Causa" in medicine and science. The Ministries of Hygiene and Public Health awarded him their Gold Medal. Men of letters, such as the academician Pierre Loti, but also great figures of the Armorial, met Desbonnet and followed his precepts of preventive medicine through organic practice
